What Causes Weight Gain While Having Difficulty With Normal Functioning Of Liver?

My granddaughter has been scheduled to see a specialist in 3 weeks for a liver function problem. She is currently enrolled in a drug rehabilitation center, and we had visitation today, and we were quite concerned with her appearance. She has gained quite a bit of weight which I believe to be fluid since she has been there in the last month. They advised her liver function number upon entry was 83 and 3 weeks later rose to 89. I am concerned that waited until July 17th may be too long for her to see a specialist. Since we don t have specific details we are not sure what to do, because she is an adult (26 years old), but we need to know if we should push for immediate care. What should we do?

Hello,

Since she has a history of liver disorder and now has gained weight, it is indicative that the liver is still overloaded. Proper nutritional detoxification of the liver is not taking place causing toxins back into the blood due to ineffective digestion, fat breakdown and hence weight gain.

She needs better care, liver disorders if neglected may progress to cirrhosis, liver failure or liver cancer. She is suggested to take boiled food for a couple of days to help liver regain its normal functioning. She can add a little olive oil for taste. She needs to cut on spicy junk food, avoid frozen, packaged food. Take well cooked food, avoid taking raw veggies or fruits & trans fat, cheese, refined flour, etc.

She should take liver tonics and digestives. Take adequate sleep. Take food in small portions, 3-4 times a day and stay well hydrated. She should avoid addictions if any. Yes, she needs immediate care, get her treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
