What Causes Weight Gain While On Ambien?
Yes, thanks. My boyfriuend takes Ambien, and over the past month he s gained 25, and maybe more, pounds. He s not fat, he s muscular. And he s understandably upset about this rapid weight gain. He s on Ambien for insomnia. Can you offer an alternative drug, if it IS the Ambien? Thanks. *boyfriend*

Ambien is a brand name of zolpidem and it will not cause weight gain as a side effect. Diet control and proper physical exercises are the key to lose weight. He can try other drugs like clonazepam to lose weight after discussing with a physician.
