Hi I have been taking femoston conti 1/5 for almost 3 months and find I have gained weight (about 3kg).. I know it s not my diet as it has not changed in fact I have been observing Ramadan when I usually lose around 3kg but this year have not lost any weight at all. I am 57 yrs old and active and also feel much better physically since starting this regime, however I m feeling a bit depressed and the weight gain doesn t help!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient,
I totally understand your concerns about weight gain while on hormone replacement therapy (femoston).
However there is clear evidence that Hormone replacement therapy by itself is not a reason for weight gain. However studies have clearly shown that during the perimenopausal and postmenopausal period there are some weight gain and redistribution of fat mainly on the waist. both patients on hormone replacement therapy and those who are not will experience this weight changes and fat mass redistribution. So i recommend you to continue taking femoston since you feel better on it and it is not the reason for your weight gain.
Best regards
