Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have been taking a generic form of detrol for one month. My urogolist prescribed it when my insurance stopped covering Toviaz 8mg. I have not had the same results that I had with the Toviaz. I am experiencing urgency and am unable to stop leakage. I have also experienced weight gain with the generic detrol. Is this common?
Detrol may give unusual weight gain or loss, also urinary retention or dysuria and these are called side effects. Weight gain is not a very common side effect but still happens.
For overactive bladder Detrol has been effective, however there are many other medication such as Solifenacin or Trospium to try if you do not ameliorate with Detrol. This must be discussed with your doctor to take the best decision.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
