What Causes Weight Gain While On Medication For Underactive Thyroid?

I am 5 tall and am currently weighing 180 lbs. I have gone to the doctor and they gave me thyroid medication for underactive thyroid and low Vitamin D levels. I am continuing to gain weight. I am scared that I may have an underlying medical issue that Dr. s can t detect. It is beginning to worry me.
