What Causes Weight Gain While Treating Fibromyalgia?

I have fibromyalgia and take several medications for pain. I have gained several pounds above my desired weight over the past several years due to my decreased activity, age, menopause, drugs, whatever. I have somewhat of a pendulum pelvic area. When I have an increased activity my pelvic region is very sore. Within the last 6 months or so I have developed a spot on my right side that is painful & it seems I can express this pain in my lower right side upon washing myself on the right side of my pelvic floor. Lately it has gotten more painful. I have had a TAH, appendectomy, cholecystectomy. I know I will need to bring this pain up with my PCP but am wondering if you can give me any ideas. Thank you, Sandy Oh, I am 69 years old.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. A thyroid function test (TFT) is required to rule it conditions like hypothyroidism as it will cause similar symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
