Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Weight Loss, Dry Mouth And Fatigue After A Shoulder Injury?
I am concerned for my brother. He s lost 30 pounds in the past 3 weeks. He injured his shoulder a few weeks ago, which may have nothing to do with this, but he developed constant dry mouth. Severly! waking up every hour during the night to drink a whole bottle of water, hitting the bathroom, and back again. He said his only other symptoms are fatigue. He spend the whole day at patient first, and they couldn t find anything. He s going back tomorrow for a blood test.
I think he may be suffering from diabetes mellitus. Caused by increased thirst followed by polyuria. Other possibilities like urinary tract infection or malignancy or tuberculosis or chronic autoimmune Infections or diabetes insipidus etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.please check blood sugar, serum , urine osmolality, serum , urine sodium levels. Blood urea, serum electrolytes etc.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
