What Causes Weight Loss In A Patient With Mononucleosis?

my daughter is 14 years old, she has mono, for a year now. unforantly, she is losing weight again,she lost 13pds. in 4 months.she was 113pds, now shes 98 pds. is this apart of mono symptoms? she is very skinny, not healthy at all.two years ago she lost15 pds in 6weeks, but that was due to her father dyshe is also ing. it took over a year to start gaining weight, now shes losing weight again. what does she have?

I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, I will advise you to take care of her overall diet and treatment program. Infectious mononucleosis is a chronic disorder which takes a toll on the overall health of the affected. But the weight loss is not permanent. Slowly with treatment, she will gain weight. Please check if she is loosing hair as well. If not, she is on her way for recovery and will be healthy. Avoid red meat and start using milk products to increase weight.
