Hi doctor, am 19 years old undergradute student, i have about 75% of my small intestine removed on may third 2017 . And i lost 15 kg of my weight. I was admitted to a hospital for for 15 days due to elecrolyte imbalance by the time i was living the hospital i had gained 3 kg but three days after discharging me from hospital, i have lost 2 kg. nothing to be worried about weight loss after gut surgery.bt if its significant then you have to worry about. as our small gut is the main portion for reabsorption,so you may suffer in frequent GI upset as well as nutritional deficiency. so take supplements prescribed by your physician ,I hope this will cover up your problems.
