What Causes Weight Loss While Suffering From Diabetes?

I recently lost some weight. I went to the doctor today and was told that I had lost 12 pounds during the past six months. I am now scheduled for a mammogram, colonoscopy. I am scared that I might have pancreatic cancer or something like that. I am a diabetic and my blood sugar is high. Does High blood sugar cause weight loss?

You have not mentioned the age. Type 1 DM with high blood sugar can decrease wt. But Type 2 DM which is more common causes wt gain in spite of wt loss. But wt loss 12 pound is normal, which can occur d/o blood sugar. You need to investigated for TB,neoplasm and HIV
