What Causes Weird Pain In Throat Along With Phlegm?
Soooo, I have had this annoying pain in my throat. It s kind of at the base of it more near the color bone. I wake up every day with a crenated/scalloped tongue. I do have a lot of drainage going on as well. But I m not sure it s a sore throat. The pain isn t really a pain as it is annoying. I wish I could explain it. Tested negative for strep. I was thinking maybe a thyroid issue but my tsh was within normal range. Any ideas what it could be?
Understanding your concern. As per your query weird pain in throat along with phlegm which could be due to lymph node enlargement or granular pharyngitis. Lymph node enlargement is most commonly due to infection or inflammation. Feeling of pain in throat requires a clinical assessment of the throat. A clinical assessment of the inner ear is also essential as the type of pain mentioned by you could be due to compression of nerve around the neck and behind the ear.The symptoms mentioned by you are not characteristic of any specific lesion thus clinical assessment is needed. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined properly. Till then take proper course of antibiotics to subside infection if any and drink plenty of fluids and water to keep yourself hydrated. You should take green tea on daily basis in morning. Take nasal sprays on daily basis as it will open up sinuses and blood will not be discharged.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
