What Causes Wheezing During A Physical Activity?

I have lived with cardiomyopathy for 19 years and have no limitations on physical activity. In fact, I rode my bicycle 27 miles the other day and 15 miles the next with no ill effects. But when I lift anything and carry it even a short distance, I start to wheeze--just in last couple months. Why is it only when I lift things do I wheeze?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think this is an overload in physical activity that is not supported from your heart (due to cardiomyopathy).

I highly recommend to consult further with your cardiologist and to run a few cardiac tests to rule out possible complications (especially when it comes to heart attack).

Should run EKG, stress test, an echocardiogram to evaluate your heart.

Plus, we need a chest X-ray to rule out pulmonary problems including pulmonary circulation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
