What Causes Wheezing While On Treatment For Asthma?

I have been receiving treatment for asthma for many years with very little improvement. I was referred to ENT and examination revealed an epiglottis cyst. Could this be causing excessive wheezing in my upper airway. How serious is surgery for removal of the cyst.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The epiglottis cyst can obstruct the upper airway ,the need for removal would depend on the size of the lesion and the degree of obstruction. The surgery should be able to be done with minimal complications

Imaging with a CT scan may be needed for further information.

Though the epiglottic cyst can cause obstruction of the upper airway, the sound should be different from wheezing which occurs as a result of obstruction of the lower airways.

I hope this helps
