Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Wheezing, dry Cough And Chest Discomfort?
I have developed a dry cough which is deep, causing discomfort in my chest and some wheezing. No fever, no cold. Am I developing alllergies or could this be a side effect to my BP medication, lisinipril. I also take simvestatin at night. Been on both meds for a number of years with no side effects before.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of wheezing, dry cough and chest discomfort which seems to be due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. You may have lung infection or bronchitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Consult pulmonologist without any delay. Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or may take history. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin or penicillin at least for 10 days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents. Take expectorants. Steam inhalation is very effective for you.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
