Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes White Blister Along The Base Of Toenail Bed?
I had a partial toenail removal. Dr used Lidocaine to numb me. And did the procedure. It s now day 5 & my toe is red, swollen, black still from silver nitrate but now I have a white blister along base of my nail bed. Is it infected? It s Sunday so should I go to *ER or go to my PCP tmrw when opens?
The commonest causes I can think about are as follows:
* The blister can just be elevation of a dead skin along with a healthy base which can be confirmed only after removal of the white cover which you can ask for. * Please visit ER or your Doctor for clinical evaluation and any investigations if required. * Proper cleaning with hydrogen peroxide and liquid povidone can clear the picture well and have further management as per the findings. * May also need a good antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicine cover. * Have regular follow up. * Try to keep the affected foot above heart level in laying down position to reduce the edema and imp[rove the blood supply. * Add on medicine to increase the blood flow to the affected area.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
