What Causes White Bumps On The Tonsils While Having Cough?

Hi! My daughter has 2 white bumps on her tonsils. She also has a cough. She has no fever and her energy level is normal. My worry is that she has strep. Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of white bumps on the tonsils while having cough which seems to be due to tonsil stones i.e Tonsilloliths and it could be due to condition known as oral thrush. In some cases foreign bodies start collecting and become stone on tonsils.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day. Avoid intake of sharp and spicy food. Avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages. Maintain complete hygiene of oral cavity. You should consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and may prescribe antifungal ( fluconazole ).If it is due to bacterial infection then doctor may prescribe antibiotics. Doctor may remove stone with a small instrument under local anesthesia.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
