What Causes White Clumpy Patches Underneath The Tongue?
Hi. If I flip my tongue to the side, underneath one side I can see like a patch of white.. Almost looks like a lacey substance? On the other side underneath my tongue, it s the same type of substance but it s more clumpy. Do you have any idea what it is? It s not anywhere else in my mouth or on the top of my tongue.
As per your complain white lacy patches on the side of underneath of tongue can be due to causes like leukoplakia, lichen planus etc.. While if the other areas have cheesy or curdy clumps it can be due to yeast infection known as Thrush..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like biopsy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
In case of leukoplakia a course of multivitamins, antioxidants and cessation of any habit like tobacco chewing, smoking etc if present can be avoided.. In case of lichen planus steroid ointments and mouthwash can be advised.. In case of fungal infection anti-fungal mouthwash and oral medication can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
