Im just really nervous and scared tht it is something serious. My tongue still even still has white coating like cottage cheese on the back which has seem to clear but now that im out of medicine i dnt know
As per your complain white patches on the gums and tongue can be due to oral thrush which is a fungal infection and as you already had this infection for which the treatment was incomplete there are chances that the infection is active and progressive and involving other mucosal surfaces in mouth like the gums..
As the fungal infection is more active in the areas where there is already any infection or reduced resistance therefore it is infecting the gums where you have a decay and if not treated it can involve the entire gums..
I would suggest you that you need not to worry as thrush is treatable and you should take a complete course of antifungal drugs like Fluconazole or clotrimazole along with nystatin mouthrinses..
Adding probiotics in diet like Yoghurt and garlic frequently can help in clearing of the lesions..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
