I have white discoloration on the roof of my mouth as well as red bumps underneath my tongue and in the back of my throat... I have been tested for STD s and have been diagnosed once with Staph infection... But I was medicated for it via mouthwash solution and it still is there... I also had a screening for cancer from my dentist and nothing was positive... I am very concerned and don t know what I should do... thanks for the help

Hi,

As per your complain, white discoloration of the roof of the mouth can be due to fungal infection also known as Oral Thrush. Red bumps under the tongue and back of throat can be due to inflammation while can also be due to Viral infection.

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Oral swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. In case of thrush anti-fungal medicines like Nystatin mouthwash, Clotrimazole lozenges and Oral anti-fungal medicines like Fluconazole can help. As of now maintain a good Oral hygiene and also do warm saline gargles.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
