Itching in the groin is commonly due to Jock itch (tinea cruris). It is a fungal infection. Keep the groin clean & dry.
Apply hydrocortisone cream in the affected area, take a course of Fluconazole orally.
If you are sexually active, you should get physically examined by a GP & get STD tests done to rule out any sexually transmitted infection (Psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, etc).
Avoid unprotected sex & multiple partners.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
