Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a male of 34 years of age and have a large white mass (canker type sore) on the side back of my mouth...It hurts to swallow and I have had this for 2 weeks. Doctor first said it was strep throat but results came back as it not being strep throat. White mass appeared after they tested me for strep
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a large canker sore type white mass at the back of mouth that is painful can be probably a Major Apthae or Major Apthous ulcer. It is a variant of canker sore only but is large in size as compared to the regular canker sores.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and at times a biopsy can be done for confirmation if the lesion is large.. Treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine for relief.. You can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Do warm saline gargles. Avoid spicy foods.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
