Hello Doctor, I was having the following symptoms since the last 6 months : Mushy / loose stools - sometimes with mucuos ( white ) Gas Weakness Initailly I was having mushy / loose stools 1 or 2 times daily but last month the problem increased and I had to go for 6-7 times. Mostly the white mucuos was present in stools. There was not any cramping in stomach or visible blood in stools. The stool colour also varied from light brown to dark brown (but not very dark, maroon etc). I have consulted a physician and he gave me Antibiotic (H2O or O2H maybe) - 5 days 3 times daily with probiotic - bifilac HP but it it didn t solved the issue. Stool Routine, CBC tests were normal. Then another family doctor suggested that this issue can be amoebiaisis as per the symptoms ( because of mushy stools with mucuous). He advised me to take flagyl ( 400mg) thrice daily for 10 days. I also started Bifilac and Vizylac along with it. As soon as I started Flygl, my motions were controlled ( only once daily). Although in between the course after 5 days of taking flagyl, for one day I had stools 4-5 times but again it was better ( 2 times - first time formed and then semi formed) for the next 4 days. I am on a strict diet with yellow dal, lauki, tourai, roti, bael juice, apple and lots of curd. After the flagyl 10 day course ended, my motions were normal 1 time and formed ( but sometimes found some white mucuous) . Today 5th day, I have to go twice, first was completely formed and second time it was mushy. Sorry for such long and detailed description. My family doctor has advised me to continue taking Bifilac and Vizylac for a month. He also told me that I might have to go for a 10 days flagyl cource after 3 months ( depending on the situation ). The main problem is I still don t know that it was amoebiasis since it didn t some in any stool test/ blood test. I have the following queries : 1) Please advise me if I am going on the right path for medication? If so, what else can I do to improve / eliminate this problem. 2) What all test should I undergo now to confirm that the problem still persists or have been eleminated ? 3) Do I need to go through endoscopy / colonoscopy as I am afraid of these invasive tests ? 4) How long will it take to be completely normal if I was suffering from amoebiasis. 5) Also I face itching in hands sometimes after taking Bifilac or Vizylac. Should I consider changing the medicines ? 6) Any other suggestions ? Regards, Neerav
