What Causes White Patches On Both The Elbows And Cheek In Children?
Hello Sir, my 7 years old son has developed white patches on both the elbows and one such patch on the left cheek. Please suggest the possible causes and remedies. Those patches have sensation when pinched, but he doesn t feel itching. We live in Vijayawada and the weather is hot and sweaty.
As per my clinical experience, the presence of white patches on both of the elbows and cheek at 7 years age may be concern of auto-immune disorder condition as Celiac disease or other malabsorption disorders of gastrointestinal tract which present with similar fashion.
In my clinic, I do recommend a: - Detailed history - Physical examination - Necessary blood tests including that of antibody to IgA and TTG (Tissue transglutaminase) if the same is needed. If any of the reports are available with you, kindly share with me for further reference please.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
