What Causes White Patches On Stomach, Chest And Thighs Of Infant?
Hi...my baby is 4months old..she has white patches in her stomach, chest, thighs. Consulted dr he told it is looking like vitiligo. Butno treatement right now.whther it will go on its own..? And im hypothyroid mom...feeling that it must be the reason fr her vitiligo.. is thr really any link between both ?
Hi Welcome to healthcare magic. The white patches you have mentioned can be due to vitiligo which is an autoimmune depigmentation disorder. It is unlikely to be caused by your being hypothyroidism but the child may also be having autoimmune hypothyroidism and vitiligo can be an association. Other possibility is of a superficial skin infection called Pityriasis versicolor. A local physician/dermatologist can differentiate between the two. In vitiligo cure is unlikely while pityriasis can be treated by specific antifungal treatment. Take care.
