Hi..
Can understand your concern..
As per your complain it seems that you have yeast infection known as "ORAL CANDIDIASIS" which is characterized by thick white cheesy plaques on the tongue.
It can occur due to due to a number of reasons in which there is decreased immunity in the body like
Diabetes,
HIV ,
Steroid intake or if there is disturbance in the microbial flora present in mouth like during infections or intake of anibiotics for a long time.
In your case infection can be a cause as Candidiasis is an opportunist infection and the fungus flourish where there is decreased resistance found against it.
I would suggest you to
consult a dentist and get evaluated for the cause of the plaques as the dentist will take a sample by scraping the plaque and send for laboratory investigation, although at times no investigation is needed and only clinical checkup is sufficient to diagnose..
In case of candidiasis Anti-fungal medicines oral and topical can be helpful.
Nystatin drops ,
fluconazole tablets etc are given to the patient..
Taking probiotics like Yoghurt daily many time a day can help in clearing off the plaques.
Hope your query is solved..
