What Causes White Spots On Gums In A Person With Smoking Habit?

i have been using smokeless tobacco for 1 year. 1 can will last me 2 days. I woke up this morning and I looked in the mirror and what I saw disturb me. There was a small white dots on my gums where I usually put my dip. He's got kind of look like pimples whiteheads and I googled what they might be in a lot of the answers were Leukoplakia. Also I heard the leukoplakia usually looks like white patches in your gums but what I have looks exactly like whitehead pimples and it is exactly where I usually put my dip. Are these just ulcers or is it something worse

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain the raised white spots at the site of tobacco dipping can be TOBACCO KERATOSIS caused by friction caused due to continuous placement of tobacco leading to over production of keratin as a protective layer..
It can get resolved gradually by itself once the irritating factor is withdrawn completely..

Other reason can Leukoplakia which is pre cancerous lesion and is caused due to hyperkeratosis and milder patches gets resolved by reduction of irritating factor and intake of antioxidants and multivitamins..

Another less common cause but cannot be ignored can be Verrucous Carcinoma which is also caused due to tobacco dipping and needs immediate medical attention..

You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated so that he can make a confirmatory diagnosis and can treat you accordingly..
Along with clinical examination he can also advise you Biopsy for confirmatory diagnosis..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
