hello sir i have a white spots on my chest which is 1mm to5mm this came last one month after may to July between and i have a doubt that is it identify guttate hypomelanosis or vitiligo one spot was there from last three years and it is not increasing please suggest me there are more then tn spot on my stomach area please my age is 26
Pityriasis versicolor is a common cause of white spots in the body. I would recommend you to have selenium sulfide daily in the affected areas for two weeks. It may take a while for the spots to go away even when the infection is treated as the sun is needed to tan the spots but there should not be new spots coming out.
If you notice new spots coming out or the spots are not fading after treatment and some sun exposure you will need a visit with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
