What Causes White Spots On The Tongue With Tickling Sensation In The Throat?

Hi I went away on a holiday in Zante last week and my friend became very unwell, coughing in the night etc she is still unwell and has been diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. I got a sore throat while away but that was all until Thursday, when a white spot developed on my tongue, it is now Sunday and there is another white spot and I have a tickly cough just at the back of my throat. I have a singing audition on Tuesday so I am concerned and would like to find out what it is so I can treat it before it gets worse.

As per your complain it seems that the white spots over the tongue following an Upper respiratory tract infection can be either apthous ulcers but can also be due to viral infection only leading cold sores caused by Herpes simplex virus infection..
So to confirm what is the exact cause, you need to consult an Oral Physician an get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Oral Swab culture and blood test can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now in case if the spots are sore you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over it..
Do warm saline gargles and avoid spicy foods to prevent irritation..
In case if after investigation viral infection is ruled out you will be advised oral and topical antiviral medications like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir, Famicyclovir etc..
