What Causes Whooshing Sound In The Ears While Having Sinus Infection?

The weekend of Sept 24th I came down with a bad sinus cold & I started to feel better a 2 days after my doc appt on 26th of Sept well fast forward to a few days later I started to get this whoosing sound in my ear & it won't go away however I'm still blowing my nose from time to time & coughing here & there. What should I do? What could this be? Should I be worried?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain whoosing sounds in ear seems to be most probably due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum and blocked eustachian tube..
It can occur due to sinus infection causing post nasal drip as the ear and throat are connected via Eustachian tube ..

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI, otoscopy etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics, oral as well as nasal decongestants like Xylometazoline nasal sprays.
Along with it steam inhalation and chewing chewing gum can help..
In case of no improvement in 15 days surgical drainage by making a small incision through the eardrum can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
