What Causes Wrist Pain After Insertion Of A Cannula In The Arm?
I had a canula inserted in my right hand to the last vein to the right of the hand.. it was nearly 5 weeks ago but I have developed a pain every time I touch the right hand side of my wrist bone also it feels like a piece of string is under my skin when I touch it which is very painful... what could this be ??
I think it is phlebitis an infection and inflammation of a vein caused by keeping a cannula for too long. I think you should take antibiotics infusion for a week and also take anti-inflammatory drugs such Advil.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
