Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 38 year old male who had nipple discharge from my left breast following a shower. The discharge was yellowish green followed by blood. It was similar to what happens when you pop a pimple but it came out of the nipple. I haven t felt any lumps in the breast. I m wondering if this could be a blockage that was released by the hot water? So far it has only happened one time. I have made an appointment with my GP but its a week and half away. Thanks.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Yellowish-green discharge from nipple followed by blood discharge is suggestive of bacterial infection of the ducts of the breast. A microscopic and microbiological examination of the breast discharge is required to know the cause of infection. Prescription of antibiotics is required to control the infection in the ducts of breast. I suggest you to consult a surgeon for clinical assessment, investigations and thus treatment. At the same time bilateral breasts and armpits have also to be examined to look for any lump.
Thank and take care Dr Shailja Puri
