What Causes Yellow Discoloration In The Eyes While On Amoxicillin?

Hello, I ve been taking Amoxicillin for 6 days now and I have 1 day remaining on it and I ve noticed my eyes have started to appear slightly yellow and I ve read a lot about this being a side effect of this antibiotic. I m wondering if this is something I should be really concerned about from liver damage or if it is temporary? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, Amoxicillin can cause jaundice that is yellow discoloration of the eyes. It's mostly benign thing and reverses as you stop taking the drug. However, I would advise you should do your liver tests and inform your doctor as you may need to stop the drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
