Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ok, thanks. Recently I had an eye exam and everything was great. A couple of days ago I started seeing a tiny yellow flash of light at the top left of my left eye. I notice it more at night but that makes sense because it is dark out. It only happens 3 or 4 times a night, I think, but I am concerned. What could it be a symptom of? Is it related to my optic nerve? I am 67 years old, exercise regularly, eat well and otherwise I am in really good health. Thank you.
Flashes of light may happen with age but any changes from the usual norm for a patient should warrant an examination. In your case, I would recommend you to have a slit lamp examination to rule out retinal detachment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
