Hello,
Urinary tract infection (UTI) or a sexually transmitted infection are common causes of
penile discharge. Penile discharge is often accompanied by pain or burning during urination and need to urinate frequently. Chlamydia,
gonorrhea and trichomonas infections are common infections that may cause penile discharge. Chlamydia is a
sexually transmitted disease that can result in similar symptoms to a UTI: Painful urination and discharge from the penis. Gonorrhea is an STD that can cause discharge to leak from the penis. When discharge from the penis is not considered typical or normal for men, cases of gonorrhea and chlamydia are very common, especially in men.
Chlamydia and gonorrhea can cause serious health problems when left untreated, including
infertility, so it is important to get tested for any instance of penile discharge if you are sexually active. UTI can cause from STI ( sexual transmitted disease). Your symptoms also have evidence of
epididymitis or orchitis in scrotum. You should go to see your doctor to get the treatment as soon as possible to prevent the complication.
Azithromycin alone is not enough, you should use combination therapy azithromycin 1g plus ceftriazone 250mg intramusculare or 400mg oral cefixime for chlamydia and gonorrhea. You may need to do urine test such as culture and urinary analysis to confirm the real infection. But you still can do presumptive treat for STI.
Tell your sexual partner(s) to see their doctor, even if they have no symptoms. Many women with STI do not have symptoms. Don't have sex until you and your sexual partner have completed tests and treatment. You should wait 7 days after you have had your treatment course to avoid passing on the infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
