What Causes Yellow Pus Formation At Back Of Hard Palate During Pregnancy?

I woke up with a swollen, red hard palate. It feels rough at the back like I may have burnt it or something but I don t remember damaging it, more that I just woke up like that. I did have a dental check up the day before, just a check up and clean and polish. The dentist said everything was fine and good at the time and there was no swelling in the palate then. It developed the next morning, I wonder if it s related or just a coincidence, Today there is some yellow pus forming at the back of the hard palate. My glands may be a little swollen too and I do feel extra tired, though I am 35 weeks pregnant. Any ideas?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain there seems infection in the throat leading to formation of a pus pocket along with swollen glands and tiredness..
The most common cause of infection is bacterial infection while at times Viral Infection with a secondary bacterial infection can cause pus formation..

You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and for infection he can advise you to take antibiotics like Amoxicillin which is considered safe during pregnancy..
For pain Tylenol can be taken.
Do warm saline gargles..
Steam inhalation çan help
Avoid spicy and hard foods and take a soft diet..
