Yellow / dark-colored urine is definitely the most common because of dehydration. The more water we drink, the more dilute our urine would be and hence lighter the color. However, there are many other causes that can cause high colored urine. There are certain food items like- beetroot, sometimes berry, which can cause high colored urine.
Besides it can be due to some infections in the kidneys or liver (jaundice), any trauma to kidneys, maybe recurrent stone in kidneys. I feel you should continue drinking plenty of water. If still, the symptoms do not improve, go for investigations like urine test, kidney function test, liver function test and ultrasound of the abdomen.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards, Dr. Milinda Gupta
