What Causes Yellowish Discharge From Wound On Elbow?
I have had wounds on both elbows for several months They would break open and drain or bleed then scab over and get smaller but never heal completely During this time I have been taking very high doses of steroids both IV and oral Ihave COPD and suffered with a very bad pneumonia from January till very recently during this time I also have had dvts in my legs and pulmonary emboli At this time I still have the scab on the right elbow. About a month ago The left elbow became much redder and painful around the wound so I soaked it in warm water and applied a dressing with Neosporin for several days. About 2 weeks ago the wound had gotten very small so I left it alone Next thing I know I am leaning on my arm and I feel moistur and there is yellowish drainage dripping out of it This has continued of and on since. also Iam running a lowgrade fever off and on for about the same amount of time. Any thoughts?
Yellowish discharge from the wound on elbow is suggestive of some infection. For treatment you can take some antibiotic preferably cefadroxyl or zifi-cv after an expert advice along with meftal-plus or zerodol-sp for pain, redness and swelling. Use neosporin powder for local application. Do regular dressing of the wound under strict aseptic precautions.
