Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
The swelling in legs especially when it increases in sitting or standing position is usually secondary to cardiac cause and commonly seen in hypertensives. These tests were done to evaluate the renal function along with diabetes mellitus.
Only microalbumin level is more, individually it does not help much.
I require more details like history of hypertension, swelling in leg since what time? does the swelling depress when pressed. If all of this is yes, then we are looking at dependent edema.
Elevation of limb above cardiac level during sleeping position (2-3 pillow below legs) should reduce. Additionally diuretics may be necessary.
Renal edema usually associated with puffiness of face in initial stages.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
