What Chances Of Leukemia Would A Breast Cancer Patient Undergoing Chemotherapy Have, Due To Low Platelets Count?
Five year ago Dx stage 1 breast ca patients. See Cancer doc every six moths blood work was good plates 119 they appears to be low all the time. My bones feel like a sponge troughout my body. Very scared see the cancer doc march. So afraid being african American it's leukemia or some other blood cancer. I received 4 rounds of taxotere and cytoacan chemo. 6 weeks of radiation. My hands are always ice cold and feet. I am so nervous and scared. Sorry do not have enough money on cord to pay for answer; however thanks for you time.

There is a risk of development of second malignancy in patients undergoing radiotherapy.
However, the blood work shows low platelets only.
There is no evidence of abnormal cells in the blood examination.
Leukemia is characterized by very high white blood cells and presence of abnormal cells.
Platelets are depressed due to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
A regular blood work up is required to monitor the platelet counts as it should not fall beyond one lakh per cubic millimeter.
Stay in regular touch with your treating doctor.
