What Could A CT Scan Report With Hernia And Attenuation Around The Umbilicus Indicate?
Hello. I have had an abdominal post op abcess for a year following a hernia mesh repair. I recently had a ct scan that read residual or recurrent hernia and increased attentuation around umbilicus which is where the mesh was placed. Does this mean my hernia has come back?
Not necessarily. The post operative abscess might have caused delayed closure of the surgical wound or a weak area in your abdominal wall at the site of the scar, due to insufficient healing. If the abscess is now healed and you have no clinical signs, the hernia might not return. But you have to be cautious and go back to your surgeon if you notice signs of a hernia.
Hope I have answered your question. Please feel free to get back in case you have more doubts.
