General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
-The bruise at the end of spine without a history of trauma, fall can be due to continuous sitting on a hard surface or sudden reduction of weight ,whereby the fat padding protecting the tail bone is reduced. Getting it predisposed to injury.
- Sweating followed by fungal infection, itching can cause such bruising without pain & would be treated with local application of Neosporin ointment or dusting powder.
- You should visit a orthopedic surgeon if the problem continues for more than10-15 days...for more specific investigations & treatment.
Till then Avoid painful movements.Use pain medicine over the counter/use coushon to sit on. Keep the part clean &dry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
