What Could A Growing Red Spot In The Eye With Blurred Vision Indicate?

My fiancé woke up with a red spot on his eye (a week ago). Since then, it has gotten bigger, And his eye now looks glassy and is also hurting. His vision is also blurry in that eye, but that started a couple of months ago. The ophthalmologist said it was just a tired eye. What could this be?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your fiance is having red soot in the eye with blurring of vision. The red spot can be because of subconjunctival hemorrhage and it will resolve on its own even without treatment by 2-3 weeks.
The blurring of vision can be because of refractive error or because of dryness of eyes.
Hence this requires evaluation by your ophthalmologist and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
