What Could A Red Little Bump Under Public Hair Indicate?
Hi I have noticed a little bump in my pubic hair area. Its one single bump and its right under one of the pubic hair. I noticed that when I touch it or rub it then it would get a bit bigger but not that big. Right now it just looks red. I m not sure if this is an ingrown hair or not. It is only one bump so thats what I m assuming right now. I haven t have any sexual contact in about 2 1/2 weeks and my boyfriend is clean. I hope you can help.
The bump in the pubic hair area may be due to infected ingrown hair. Do not keep touching it. Do not scratch. Avoid using perfumed products in the genital area. Do not douche. Take care of your hygiene. Avoid shaving. You can apply a thin layer of Bactroban cream. It should go away in a week. In case it grows or spreads, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynae and get STD tests done. Stay away from sex for a couple of days. Wear soft cotton undies so that the bump is not getting rubbed by friction. Stay away from addictions if any. Take regular baths.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
