Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could A Round, Discolored Bump Near The Anal Area Indicate?
I am a 31 year old female in a two year monogamous relationship. A few days ago while showering I noticed a large bump about the size of a very large pea right on the outside of my anal area. This bump I think must have been there around the time I had two other bumps around my groin that I thought were from ingrown hairs. The other two bumps have gone away after draining (one completely and the other I think is going away). This bump on my bum however is persisting. It is quite rounded and purplish at the top. It is soft on the surface but you can feel it is very hard underneath. I have had a boil on my chest before that needed to be lanced and am scared this is what is needed here but in a much more sensitive and awkward area.
A rounded pea sized lump which is purplish and soft on top and hard at surface on side of anus ,probably it is perianal abscess. If i have to treat such a patient i will advice local incision and drainage. Any discharge should be investigated for the cause like lymphogranuloma venereum, tuberculosis, crohn disease etc.
