Hello,
The lump behind the collar bone may be the following:
1)
Supraclavicular lymph nodes swollen: it occurs in various infections like
tuberculosis, Epstein Barre virus mononucleosis
2) A lipoma
3) A neurofibroma
4) Epidermoid cyst
5) Hematoma
6) Branchial cleft cyst
7) Neoplastic deposits in cervical lymph nodes by metastasis
To those who come to my clinic with similar complaint, vi do recommend the following:
1) History of the lump in detail
2) Thorough examination of the lump
3) If necessary fine
needle aspiration biopsy is done
4) That aspirate sent to histo-pathology examination and depending upon the report, treatment is done
5) In case of
cervical lymphadenopathy, infection is to be eliminated
6) In case of metastasis,
primary tumor is to be located and the lump removed
7) Lipoma and neurofibroma are benign tumors and they won't bother
Kindly keep checking if the swelling is increasing in size or if pain and redness develop. Consult a physician for thorough examination and specific diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
