What Could A Sore Spot On The Scalp Indicate?

I have a sore spot on my scalp (only one) and my doctor has only looked at it 3 different times and I can t get an answer about what it is. He s given me no medical treatment for it and I even seen him wipe his fingertips on his coat when I finally got him to part my hair so he could see it. I quit! I m treating it with Head & Shoulders & Benadryl cream. It s not getting any better but it s not getting worse either. It hurts all the way to my brain. Do you have any ideas on what it is? Of course you don t...you can t see it and you ll charge me money I don t have to talk to me. BTW, I m so stupid.

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I would keep a possibility of Scalp folliculitis/furuncle with surrounding cellulitis. It is a bacterial infection.

If I was the treating doctor I would have advised an empirical oral antibiotic for a week OR 10 days (My choice of oral antibiotic would have been Amoxycillin 500mg in combination with clavulanic acid 125 mg, thrice daily, for a week OR Cephalexin 500ng thrice daily OR Cefadroxil 500mg twice daily, for a week). That would take care of the infection.

An OTC pain killer e.g ibuprofen once or twice daily would help you deal with the pain.

regards
