What Could Abdominal Discomfort With Irregular And Inconsistent Bowels Indicate?

Hello, I am a 25 year old male, and for the past week or two, I've been experiencing a few issues. I've had a very slight discomfort in my abdominal area. It doesn't really hurt, or even feel too bad at all, for that matter. It's more so of annoying feeling. Like I said, a SLIGHT discomfort. Also when it comes to my bowel movements, they are not normal. I have to strain, and when something comes out, its thinner than normal. At times I feel like I have to go, but little to nothing comes.

Eating does, to a certain extent, make my slight abdominal discomfort better. As well as drinking certain liquids.

On the plus side, there is no blood in my stool, I still have full energy during the day, I sleep fairly normal, I rarely get tired or fatigued, and even though I sometimes have no desire to eat, I do anyway, and that does not make me feel nauseous (sp?). Also, I have not lost much weight at all. As a matter of fact, in the past 3 weeks, I have stayed the same weight, which is around 155 pounds. Generally speaking, I function as a normal, healthy human, other than the negatives that I've mentioned. Also, if it helps, I do not have a history of anything serious, other than slight depression, anxiety, and I do tend to over worry about nearly everything (maybe that is playing a factor in all of this?)

Everyone that I've talked to, seem to be 100% sure that I do not have any form of cancer, or any other serious issue. I have also searched online for possible reasons why this is happening to me, and I came up with a lot actually, such as IBS, ulcers, etc. . .However, I am still not 100% sure, and I'm asking anyone to give me their opinion. Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for your question.

I have read your question thoroughly and I feel what you are going through is irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) which is common these days especially in young people. The most common trigger of it is stress.
The symptoms that you have described are all of irritable bowel syndrome. I would advise you to work on your stress, have a healthy sleep pattern, exercise 30 minutes daily for 5 times a week. Also minimize the intake of fatty food.
If you want to take medications then you try taking mebeverine hydrochloride which can help with the abdominal discomfort (which mostly happens to intestinal spasm).

Wishing you good health.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me.
Best regards.
