What Could Air Filling Defects In The Uterus In The Below HSG Report Indicate?
hi i did a HSG - report says: 1. Uterus is of average size, subseptate in shape and air filling defects seen.2. Both fallopian tubes are not seen.3. no free peritoneal contrast spill seen. Please describe the situation and what is the treatment or surgery needed?thanks
Suggestive of subseptate uterus with blocked fallopian tubes. A subseptate uterus is a congenital (by birth) malformation in which a thin membrane divides the uterus either partially or completely. It can be treated surgically to improve the chances of successful pregnancy.
Fallopian tubes are usually blocked by scar tissue or adhesions caused by a pelvic infection, past ectopic pregnancy, fibroids, endometriosis, or pelvic surgery. If your fallopian tubes are blocked by small amounts of scar tissue or adhesions, your doctor can use laparoscopic surgery to remove the blockage and open the tubes.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
