What Could Be Frequent Painful And Tender Calf Muscles In 59 Years Old Male With No Avail With Anti-inflammatory Tablets?
i am a 59 year old male. very active and fit (gym three times a week and Golf every weekend) but for the past months a my calf muscles are tender and painfull as if I had done extensive calf muscle exercises or have run a marathon. But I have not. The symptoms appear for two to 3 weeks and then dissappear for a month, and then return? The muscles especially sore when getting up in the morning and later in the evening. I have tried anti-inflamatory tablets to no avail.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Tenderness in the calf muscles can be due to muscle fatigue as a result of regular work up. See your protein intake. A diet deficient in protein in can lead to muscle pains. Increase the protein content of your diet by adding legumes, fish, nuts etc in your diet. Besides this you can give hot fomentation to the calf muscles for symptomatic relief.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
