What Could Be The Cause Of Brown Vaginal Discharge?

Last night, at my husband's work Christmas party, I was doing a lot of dancing. Pretty much all night long since I can't drink. However, when I went to the bathroom during the party, I noticed to have some brown discharge. This discharge has continued into this morning, but has become not as much and is much lighter in color. Is this something to worry about?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Intermenstrual spotting can be seen due to causes like :
- Hormonal disturbances
- Ovulatory bleeding
-Early onset of menstrual flow
-Thyroid hormonal abnormalities
- Local causes like cervical erosion, polyps etc.
If the spotting subsides without recurrences, no need to worry.
If the spotting persists, better to consult gynecologist once and get evaluated.
By examination and ultrasound the possible cause for the spotting can be identified and treated.
If your doctor recommends go for investigations like thyroid profile, hormonal profile including estrogen, progesterone, LH and FSH etc.
Take care.
